I know that I’ve brought up the topic before, but that is because it is so popular in beauty right now. Natural ingredients in your products is something everyone wants. They aren’t made out of artificial ingredients or chemicals that can do damage over time. They have properties that are helpful in our skin care routine. Why wouldn’t you want to use something that is actually good for you? When looking for skin care products it is important to use the same rules that you follow when you’re practicing a healthy diet. You want unprocessed ingredients, nothing artificial, and no harsh chemicals. These ingredients will help bring your skin the life that you are seeking!

Coconut Oil

It seems like coconut oil is everywhere now. I feel like it is one of the more talked about natural ingredients. That is because it does have its benefits. Some if the benefits of using coconut oil are removing dead skin cells, protecting against sunburns, and antibacterial and antiviral properties. It can be used on your skin or hair as a cleanser, moisturizer, or to heal wounds. You can also ingest coconut oil to help internally to nourish your gut and increase immune function. Coconut oil is literally everywhere, so if you’re looking for the more natural ingredients, this one is very easy to get. Yes, it is pricey, but it is worth it!


Raw Honey

Honey is an ingredient that is widely used in skin care products. That’s because it has some amazing benefits to using it. Since raw honey is unheated or unprocessed, like the kind you get in the grocery store, it is able to keep all of its nourishing properties. Some of the main benefits to using raw honey on your skin are reducing breakouts, for moisturizing, fighting allergies and rashes, and helping to reduce the appearance of scars. Raw honey can be used as an exfoliator or in a bath. There are so many uses and I guarantee if you tried one of them you would see results.



Sea Salt

Sea salt is another ingredient that you see in a lot of skin care products. What I’ve mostly seen it in is body scrubs and that is mostly what it is used for. By using sea salt you are helping to balance and restore the skin with the proper minerals. When you use a sea salt scrub you are ridding the skin of dead skin cells and maintaining the oil production. It is not necessary to use a salt scrub daily, but doing it once a week can be very beneficial to keeping your skin looking healthy!



Avocados are great in skin care because they have vitamins that can penetrate the skin. It is also used in soothing sunburns and treating age spots. When applied topically, or ingested, it can also help with inflammation. Using an avocado based face mask can help in replenishing the hydration into your skin. Argan Oil

Argan oil is an ingredient that I also use. I have only used it when it’s mixed into shampoo and conditioner. Argan oil is rich in vitamins and antioxidants. It is a great product to use for moisturizing, but it also helps with the health of your hair. Before using products that have Argan oil in them, I was purchasing the cheap Herbal Essence shampoo. I’ve heard so many times to not use the cheap stuff because of the things they put in it, but I really could have cared less. Honestly though, after switching products, I do like the feel of my hair after using the stuff with the Argan oil. The more natural ingredients make it feel cleaner in a way. I would definitely suggest switching to more natural hair products. Yes, they’re little more pricey, but they are worth it!

Aloe Vera

We all know that aloe vera is great with soothing sunburns. It does, however, have more purposes than making your skin feel better after too much sun! The ingredients found in aloe vera fight inflammation, redness and itching. Which are all symptoms of a sunburn. It also can be used on frostbite and cold sores. It has also been found that when ingested, aloe vera can help skin issues as well. No, it doesn’t have the moisturizing properties that a lot of these other ingredients do, but it can be very helpful. It isn’t a bad idea to keep some in your home!


Shea Butter

In my time working for Bath and Body Works I learned a lot about Shea butter. Most of the moisturizing products contained Shea butter in the, so I know that it makes an excellent moisturizer. It works great for any skin type, but more specifically for dry skin. Shea butter can be found in a ton of moisturizers, so if you can find one that uses this ingredient, I suggest trying it out! You won’t be disappointed at all!


Of course, there are plenty of other natural ingredients that are great for skin care. Going natural is such a huge trend right now that scientists are really finding a use for everything! Try a couple of these natural ingredients out! You might be pleasantly surprised!
